Fishing
In Altena, you can fish not only on the Lenne, but also on the Fuelbecke dam with a special permit. Fishing permits for the Lenne in Altena can be purchased online at www.hejfish.com. The Angel- und Sportfischerverein Rahmede e. V. will also be happy to provide information if you have any questions or are interested: Uwe Homberger // Tel 02351-677577 // Email u-homberger@t-online.de.
Fuelbecke Dam
It primarily supplies the people of Altena with fresh drinking water, but it is also ideal for idyllic walks and runs or a break from hiking on the historic Drahthandelsweg. When it was built in 1894, the quarry stone wall was still a special feature of dams. And the view down the wall is still impressive today, as the masses of water gush out beneath you.
The municipal utilities also offer guided tours of the dam. For group bookings, please register: 02352/91 84 20.
Lenneterrassen
With the idea of opening up to the river again, two Lennet terraces were created, which provide direct access from the town to the water and are connected to each other by stones. From March to October, the terraces are open to the public, so that you can enjoy coffee and cake from a deckchair and let your gaze wander back and forth between the castle and the water. The other bank of the Lenne has also been prepared. Benches and a public barbecue area invite you to enjoy a picnic by the water.
Canoeing
The Altena-Canu-Verein e.V. offers various taster courses for beginners and advanced paddlers. Every first Tuesday of the month from May to October, there is also an "After-Work-Paddling" from 18:00-20:00. In addition to the water fun, there is coffee, fresh waffles, grilled sausages and drinks at the club's boathouse.
