Cycling through the Sauerland
The Lenneroute - around 150 km of cycling pleasure in one go: from the source of the river at Kahler Asten, right through the Sauerland to its mouth in the Ruhr near Hagen, the gateway to the Ruhr region. Winterberg, Schmallenberg, Lennestadt, Finnentrop, Plettenberg, Werdohl, Altena, Nachrodt-Wiblingwerde, Iserlohn-Letmathe and Hagen can be cycled along the Lenne. Unfortunately, the section between Werdohl and Altena is still incomplete and crosses the B236 federal road in places. This section is therefore not yet recommended for families.
The cycle tour book "Bergisches Land" from Erstbauer-Verlag with the ISBN no. 978-3-85000-681-1 is suitable for orientation
Cycling by numbers
The cycle network in the Sauerland and Siegerland-Wittgenstein regions has been divided into a honeycomb structure. At the corners of each honeycomb, "junctions" have been created that connect the honeycombs with each other. From there, it is possible to travel on in several directions. The junctions are numbered consecutively and provide good orientation - so you won't lose your way even without maps.
For the Lenneroute, for example, the sequence of junctions is as follows:
56 - 57 - 47 - 52 - 39 - 37 - 41 - 46 - 47 - 48 - 50 - 51 - 45 - 64 - 63 - 59 - 57 - 58 - 56
Start: Winterberg train station / Finish: Hagen-Hohenlimburg
