Fresh, bright water

The river Lenne is not the only place for fishing, the Fuelbecke dam is another one, for which a special permit is required. A fishing permit for the Lenne river can be purchased at  Angelshop-Altena: 0171 2947085, Bahnhofstr. 11 or online at hejfish.com.

The Altena canoe club offers various introduction courses for beginners and advanced. From May to Ocober,  "after work paddling" is offered from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. on every first Tuesday of the month. In addition to water fun, you can look forward to coffee, fresh waffles, bratwurst and drinks at the club's boat house.

Besides the fact that the Fuelbecke dam supplies us with fresh drink water, it is also perfect for idyllic walks and runs or for a break during your wire trade road hike. The quarry stone wall was quite unique back in 1894, the year of its construction. And even today it is an impressive sight when looking down onto the gushing water.

With the intention to make the river accessible to more people, two terraces were created on the Lenne river. They allow direct access to the water and are interconnected through stones.

The terrace are open from March to October, which allows people to relax in a deck chair, enjoy the view of the castle and the water and a cup of coffee with cake.

The other side of the Lenne river has been customised as well. Here you will find special stone stairs that lead into the water and a public barbecue area with view of the water
