The quickest way to get to Altena by car or coach is via the A45 or A46. Once on the A45 take exit direction Altena. If you travel via the A46 you leave the motorway through exit Iserlohn-Oestrich and drive on through Nachrodt onto the B234, alongside the Lenne river to Altena.
There is no time limit and on the right side (with back to the river Lenne) cars and coaches can park free of charge on the parcingplace "Langer Kamp".
Additionally, Altena has more parking space that require a fee, on the Lenneuferstraße, at Holtzbrinck castle, at Küstersort, Markaner and at the town hall. An overview can be downloaded here: Parking in Altena.
Every day and every thirty minutes the Ruhr-Sieg-Express RE16 and the Ruhr-Sieg-Bahn RB91 stops at train station Altena (Westf).

From the train station it will be a 10-minute walk with signposts along the way to get to the town's centre. Buses leave from the opposite side of the Bahnhofstraße direction Markaner ZOB (access pedestrian zone) and bus lines 38 and 37 will drive on the Lenneuferstraße with the wire museum as final destination.
If you travel from direction Hagen, please note: The train will be split up in Letmathe. Make sure, that you will be in the right part of the train - the one that will take you to Altena and Siegen. Otherwise you will end up in Iserlohn.
The trains direction Hagen leave at 5.18 a.m. (Sun at 06.18 a.m.) until 11.23 p.m. from the Altena train station.
The trains, direction Siegen leave at 6.40 a.m. until 11.40 p.m. from the Altena train station. Monday to Friday from 6.05 a.m. Saturday and Sunday there is one more train at 00.51 a.m.
